In recent years, we have seen the rise of the use of social media. As a result, there has been a significant increase in the commercialisation of legal matters which vary from personal matters such as the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard case to regional matters such as the Roe v Wade case. By legal cases becoming public knowledge, there have been uproars caused on social media with a link to controversy in most cases. The public often are split into three; one who abstains from making a comment or voicing their opinion, one who believes in the affirmative and the other who believes in the negative. In cases where mass groups of people believe against the court's jurisdiction, we have seen riots and protests occur, which can become extreme to an extent. As we can see, the media has a grave impact on cases by not only involving the people in the matter but the public as well. It is acknowledged that the public is generally involved in cases (through a jury), however social media has now changed public involvement to regional and international scales.
